MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE SOUTH NEWTON AND STOFORD PARISH COUNCIL
Held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 3rd September, 2014 at 7.30 pm
Present: Cllr D Blake (Chairman), C. Webb (Clerk), Cllr J Green, Cllr M Petty, Cllr M Pont,
Cllr. L. Sherlock, Cllr N. Blake
In Attendance: Cllr Peter Edge (Wiltshire Councillor for Wylye), Mr. Reeten Banerji

2. MINUTES – The Minutes of the last meeting on Wednesday 13th August, 2014 were agreed and signed as correct.
3. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
a) Stoford Cut Layby storage – Cllr. M. Petty to contact Mr. Lee Haine,
b) Yellow lines in car park at South Newton – passed to Mr Lee Haine awaiting response.
c) Light outside South Newton & Wishford Village Hall – passed to Mr. Lee Haine awaiting response.
d) Footpaths between Chilhampton to bridges at Wilton – passed to Mr. Lee Haine awaiting
e) South Newton Estate curbs – clumps of weed and grass. – passed to Mr. Lee Haine awaiting
f) Stiles at South Newton – In hand with Cllr. H. Swanton.
g) Re-painting of 30 m.p.h. sign Stoford.- passed to Mr. Lee Haine - awaiting response
h) Drain A283/A36 junction – passed to Mr Lee Haine – awaiting response.
i) Obscured sign to Trading Estate South Newton – Need to contact local landowner.
j) Drainage trench on footpath to Great Wishford – Cllr R. Henstridge to look into.
k) Subsidence problems – footpath to South Newton and Wishford Village Hall – passed to Mr. Lee
Haine - awaiting response.
l) Compactor for South Newton Trading Estate – Cllr P. Edge confirmed that this service is no longer
available and replaced with recycling plants.
4. Wiltshire Councillor’s Report – Cllr P Edge
- Cllr. P. Edge reported that training for volunteers for salt spreading required from each parish on 9th and 11th October at Farmer Giles. Cllr J Green volunteered. Bus Consultation to end 29th September,2014
- Roadworks at Wilton now completed. Stoford Cut Layby now have CCTV signs up.
5. AREA BOARD

6. STANDING AGENDA ITEMS
a. Accidents- None.
b. i) Declaration of interest – None.
ii) Planning applications – None
c. Rights of Way - Cllr. D. Blake concerned with condition of pathways up to fields stiles in a poor
condition and signs are missing, will contact local byways.
d. Environmental/Amenities – Cllr. N Blake and Cllr M. Petty reported on an encouraging meeting
with Mr, Lee Haine who will report back on each matter arising above a.s.a.p. Cllr D. Blake to look
into previous correspondence relating to road markings on South Newton Estate to re-instate
white lines Cllr L Sherlock reported on Council Tenants meeting a letter may be sent out ref.
parking on hammerhead
e. Website – up to 7,118 visits to the website in August 2014. Clerk confirmed monthly update for
Parish Magazine to be published on website.
f. A36/C283 – No issues.
b) Payment to Clerk – August payment confirmed.
Payment to Cllr. M. Petty for dog fouling signs.
8. VILLAGE HALL
Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday 16th October, 2014 at 7.00 p.m. at the Village Hall.
Correspondence – .Neighbourhood News Bulletin was read and discussed. South Newton Parish Council – Request for grant re maintenance of churchyard agreed to send a one-off payment of £500.00.
9. COUNCILLOR’S REPORTS
Cllr M. Pont – Overgrown grass bank next to bridge at Great Wishford – Cllr M. Petty agreed to cut.
Cllr L. Sherlock – Play area bin now being emptied on a regular basis. Problems with overhanging bush opposite the bus stop at South Newton overhanging the pavement – Clerk to contact local residents.
Cllr. D. Blake – will contact Housing Association with concerns over the condition of fence at Sutton Close.
There being no further business, the meeting closed at 9.00 pm.
The next Parish Council meeting will take place on Thursday 2nd October, 2014 at 7.30pm,
at the Village Hall
