MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE SOUTH NEWTON AND STOFORD PARISH COUNCIL
Held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 4tth March, 2015 at 7.30 pm

In attendance: Cllr Peter Edge (Wiltshire Councillor for Wylye)

1. MINUTES – The Minutes of the last meeting on Thursday 4th February, 2015 were agreed and signed as correct.
2. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
a) Styles at South Newton - Cllr. H. Swanton confirmed in hand.
b) Re-painting of 30 m.p.h. sign Stoford.- Clerk reported to Highways and Cllr. J. Green to bring up at
next C.A.T.G. meeting.
c) Drainage trench on footpath to Great Wishford – Clerk has passed onto Great Wishford Parish
Council Via email and Cllr R. Henstridge has discussed matter with Great Wishford Parish Council
d) Subsidence problems – footpath to South Newton and Wishford Village Hall – Clerk has reported
this matter to Highways department.
e) Fence to Sutton Close, South Newton – Chairman Cllr D. Blake to write a letter to Housing
f) Parking Issues on hammerhead at Vale View Road junction – letters have now been distributed,
will continue to assess situation.
g) Removal of drain Waste A283/A36 junction – Now clear but bus drain adjacent to Stoford Bus
Stop now full. Clerk to report to Highways Department.
h) Public footpath around field adjacent to Bonham’s Bridge – Cllr R. Henstridge to meet with River
3. Wiltshire Councillor’s Report – Wiltshire Councillor Mr. P. Edge reported that:
- the next Area Board Meeting will be 25th March, 2015, now at Bishopstone. Next C.A.T.G. meeting on 9th March.
- The Green Bin tax has now been passed by Wiltshire County Council - £40 per bin per year.
- Amalgamation of Wiltshire Fire Service with Dorset Fire Service will now go ahead.
4. AREA BOARD
Next Area Board Meeting 25th March, 2015 at East Knoyle – issues to be raised:- Flooding (Q/A
Johnathon Seed) Police and Crime Report, Road Maintenance – pot holes.
5. STANDING AGENDA ITEMS
a. Accidents- Cllr R Henstridge reported one accident at the top of Stoford Bottom two cars involved.
b. i) Declaration of interest – None.
ii) Planning applications – none.
c. Rights of Way –Cllr. H. Swanton reported some fly tipping.
d. Environmental/Amenities – Cllr R. Henstridge reported Grit Bin full at the top of Vale View Road. D
Blake confirmed salt and spreader stored.
e. Website – 5,125 visitors in February 2015.
f. A36/C283 – Cllr. J. Green expressed concerns over condition of road where C283 meets Mount
Pleasant entrance and exit. Road breaking up on C283 granite sets and pot holes getting bigger on
C283. Clerk to report to Highways and Cllr M. Pont to organise photographs.
a) Payment to Clerk – February 2015 passed.
Transfer of Digital Grant to South Newton Village Hall signed and agreed.
