MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE SOUTH NEWTON AND STOFORD PARISH COUNCIL

HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL on Wednesday July 30th 2008 at 7.30P.M.

The Minutes of the Meeting of June 25th 2008 were agreed and signed as correct.

4. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

  a) Play area waste bins should not yet replaced.Sarah Dennis

7. STANDING AGENDA ITEMS

  a.Accidents – It was reported that a car had run off the A36 at the end of June but there had

  been no casualties.

  b.Northern Area Committee

  c. Planning – It was suggested to get the signs replaced at Ashleigh Close for Residents

  Parking and also others around that area. The Clerk will arrange for someone to come and do a

  walk round with either Derek Blake or the Chairman to ascertain which could go on the order.

  d. Rights of Way –Bonham Bridge footpath has been partially cleared – the estate suggest

  markers be placed along any of the worst areas and to let them know.

e. Environmental Amenities – Clerk had obtained a quote for compactor and skips three times

  a year. The Parish would have to pay for all these and green collections are not available.

  f. South Newton Website –

  g. A36 maintenance – Clerk to follow up after summer break with Colin Gimlett.

8. FINANCE 

Payment to Clerk £112.00Payment to Village Hall for Donation of £600.00 and rent of £48.00.Payment to Michelle Seaman of £50.00 for internal audit.Audit 07/08 signed off as correct.

10. CORRESPONDENCE – Village Hall application to be approved. Clerk to e-mail proposal of full support.

11. COUNCILLORS’ REPORTS

There was a discussion about the framework for the Area Boards and what the staffing for these would be. The Clerk is to enquire and obtain some information as to numbers and areas etc. Cllr Henstridge in absence requested that a notice be put in the Benefice Magazine to request dog owners to try and avoid letting their dogs foul pavements in Vale View road and also to be aware of clearing up and the fine that can be imposed locally if caught repeatedly offending. Clerk to expedite notice. There was discussion as to reverting to holding the Parish council meetings on the first Wednesday of the month in order to be able to attend the Salisbury District Council meetings that occur during the month. As the Parish Clerk is unable to attend in the last week of August it is suggested that the next meeting be reverted to the first week of September as set out below.

The next meeting of the Parish Council is in the Village Hall on Wednesday September 3rd at 7.30pm.
