Dog Fouling

From the Parish Steward:

"Footpath to Bonham's Bridge was cut Friday 15th September but rather a lot of dog mess and my colleague had to go home to get changed as he got covered in dog mess, if this continues Wiltshire Council will stop us cutting."

Comment by the Parish Council:

A lot of the fouling is on the Wishford side, but obviously it is also bad on our side of the footpath.  A bin would be helpful and hopefully encourage people to pick it up. A new no fouling sign at the beginning of the footpath is being requested.  Also under consideration is a notice warning dog walkers that if fouling continues the path will not be kept clear of foliage.

Black bags filled with dog mess are still being picked up as some irresponsible person continues leaving them on the path or in the hedgerow.

There is also persistent fouling all along the grass path at the back of Sutton Close and the houses from Hillside, and continuing on to the farm track that makes for very hazardous walking!

Dog owners must be more responsible for their pets.

It is an offence to allow a dog to foul and not clear it up immediately.

Bag and bin it, any litter bin will do!

The Current Wiltshire Dog Control Order require a person in charge of a dog to clean up after it has defecated on any area of land within Wiltshire which is open to the air and to which the public are entitled to have access with or without payment.   Dog wardens have the powers to issue fixed penalty notices of £75 to anyone seen not clearing up after their dog. Failure to do this could lead to prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.
