UPDATES & THANKS

11th August - Stofest 2023

After the disappointment of having to cancel in July, it was great to wake up to the sun on Friday 11th August. A rather different day with a Family Fun afternoon and then music from 5.30 until late.

The bouncy castle was very popular as were the huge cuddly toys which were kindly donated for us to sell. Plenty of bubbles, candy floss, ice creams and some very artistic face painting for everyone to enjoy.

Later on, we were entertained by some great bands all of whom played for free. The BBQ, Gin, Prosecco and Pimm's bar proved very popular! Wilton Club ran the beer and cider tent for us.

The refreshment team were kept busy with hot and cold drinks and plenty of home-made cakes and savouries on offer.

None of this would happen without the massive commitment of the Village Hall Committee who organised the event and our wonderful volunteers. We have been overwhelmed by the very generous donations we have received.

The figures look like this so but there are a few expenses still to come.

Takings      £6,643

Donations £2,476

Total          £9,119

Expenses  £2,223

A total of £6,896 raised for the Village Hall in one day.

Thank you

A special mention to Sam and Barney Lawrence and all at B & E Engineering who helped set up and take down, plus their friends, clients and suppliers who generously donated. Without them there would be no Stofest.

  • Our Chairman Derek Blake who does so much for the villages and so many members of the extended Blake family.

  • Rob and Zoe Petty and their family

  • Cheryl Hooper, Janet Hailstone and Heather Bryans.

  • All the bands, plus the stage, lighting, sound desk, tents and Alex Morgan-Wardrop our compere for the evening.

  • Laura Myers, Rev Maggie Metcalfe and the helpers for the children's play area and Nikki Softly for face painting.

  • Steve Saville, Mark Perrella and Tim Gibbs for car parking.

  • Chris Dunn-Veale who took the time off work and spent it on the BBQ.

  • Tim and Helen Phelps for their generous donation and the Oak Apple Club volunteers for helping to set up and take down their tent.

  • Ian Huntley of Huntley Agriculture for generously allowing us to use his sheep field again.

  • Wilton Club for the bar.

  • Paul Routledge and Robbie Paull who cut grass and cleared the play area

  • Mick Cooney and his lovely wife Jan who helped set up and returned bright and early on Saturday morning to help litter pick.

Plus, everyone who came along, spent generously and made Stofest what it is.

Sincere apologies if I have missed anyone. You will receive a special mention next month!

Do we have a date for Stofest 2024? 13th July 2024!
